existential dread, meet existential support
in-person and virtual psychotherapy services with mercedes
Choosing to start psychotherapy is a deeply personal choice. Because of this, I believe it’s important for people to know what kind of therapy they’ll be receiving. Deeply rooted in existential analysis and relational therapy, my sessions are meaning-oriented, process-based, and reflective. Rather than resorting to weekly homework sheets, I use questions designed to help people pause and let thoughts and feelings simmer. Some questions I might use include:
What does space feel like for you?
How do you know you when you have space?
How do you know when you've lost space?
What does connection feel like?
How do you know when you feel connected?
Since this type of psychotherapy involves in-depth conversations, it is typically best suited for those who like getting honest, vulnerable, and curious. I’ve found that typically those who are gifted, twice exceptional (gifted + ADHD and/or autism), highly sensitive, or creative are drawn to my approach.
